Today Franchise King finally got to visit our first Platō Coffee, this beautiful coffee shop is located at The Square Centre in Boksburg, East Rand and it lived up to every expectation.

From the moment you step inside, you’re met with a space that feels both stylish and inviting. Warm wood finishes, contemporary touches and comfortable seating make it the kind of place where you instantly want to sit down, breathe in the aroma of freshly roasted coffee and just… stay. It’s thoughtful décor that feels designed for connection.
And the team? Hands down, some of the friendliest staff I’ve met in a long time. Their warmth, energy and pride in what they’re serving isn't just good service. They’re the embodiment of the Platō ethos.
For anyone who doesn’t know yet, Platō Coffee is one of South Africa’s fastest-growing community-focused coffee brands. It began as a single container concept and has expanded into a nationwide network of over 100 locations, with plans to reach 150 by the end of 2025 and 500 by 2027.
What makes Platō special is that it’s not just about coffee, it’s about building local hubs. The brand roasts its own beans, bakes its own goods and supplies its own equipment to ensure consistency. And its franchise model is built around owner-operators with a real stake in their business, which keeps that authentic, hands-on community feel.
I recommend you pop into your nearest Platō to experience it for yourself. And if you’ve ever dreamed of running your own coffee shop with a proven concept behind you, Platō is actively looking for passionate owner-operators to open new hubs across South Africa.
